Masyadong Seryoso Ang Mga Tomboy Sa Pilipinas

by the lesfriendly girl

Hindi na ko mag-eelaborate. Ipoprove ko na lang. Three cases in point:

1. Meron na bang lesbianang stand-up comic sa Pilipinas? Wala. Puro bakla o trans M-to-F.

and other lesbian comediennes, keribels naman?

Poetry reading. Film showing. Forums. Food trip. Talks over coffee. Board game marathon.

3. Look at our publications. Literary and Art Folio, meron.

Are you convinced your name is Nicole?

OR, hindi uso.

Period.

PS. So, isa din pala akong case in point. Chika.

  1. That was an interesting question. Medyo napanga-nga ako. Ba't nga ba? I mean, not that I am trying to stereotype my "brothers", but iilan lang ang comedians na nakita kong mga tibo.

Is it because of the "being macho" thingy nang mga tibo? I'm sure me mga tibong magagaling sa comedy. Like Margaret Cho? hahahah! Charing!

never pa akong nakakita ng tomboy dito sa Pinas na stand up commedian?

  5. i have lesbian friends that have sense of humor naman. though i have to say some are serious. Especially in relationships, they tend to be suicidal.

  9. I agree. Maybe dahil hindi nga USO dito. A decade ago, my friends and I was referring a chinese looking girl talent to a talent scout. he turned her down because of her being chinita...di daw kase uso. He even said, meron na raw ba kami nakitang intsik na sumikat dito sa Pinas. pero ngayon...dami nang intsik celebs dito di ba. But I think there's something about the Pinoy Lez culture that keeps womyn from letting out the gas. Calling social anthropologists out there for answers....

aminin din natin that it cuts both ways: iniisip din ng marami na hanggang slapstick lang ang bakla, which is not true ha.

  11. I think naman not all eh masyadong seryoso maybe but most of us..
I don't belong being comedian or what but I know some of my frendz are..
Well thinking being macho name pagka-"kikay"...whew!

Who Is Marco Morales?

by Reign Loleng Last week, I was able to see a movie called “Booking” and boy was I disappointed. I meant to write a review the film, but during my research I was more interested with its lead star – Marco Morales. I googled him and boy was I overwhelmed with the throng of blog articles (and pictures) about him. Who is he? A friend told me that he was once a part of GMA-7’s Sunday afternoon show SOP and was a singer and a member of a boy group SOP Showboyz. So is he a singer? Not quite. I checked his filmography – not much there – and I noticed that he has appeared prominently in three films - “Booking”, “Butas”, and “Walang Kawala.” All three films are independently produced and let’s be frank about this, they all sell sex. Of the three, “Booking” and “Walang Kawala” are gay-themed and I happened to have seen both of them. So he is actor, then? Let’s check. In “Walang Kawala” he only appeared in few scenes but he is very memorable for showing his goods. He played a macho dancer so a...
