Yes or No?" Contestant: "Meron. Pero hindi po ako bakla. Curious lang po ako." Host: "Ang tanong ilang beses kang na-curious?"

Homophobic Homosexuals

After doing the Gay for Pay episode, Tyra Banks brings in the controversy once more and featured homophobic homosexuals on the show. Yes, she invited openly gay individuals to talk about their likewise very open disgust on homosexuality. Confusing, yes I know, but very real. Not only on Tyra but even here in the Philippines. One needs only to follow some of the local gay blogs to see the same issues and themes in Tyra recur The Episode Tyra's guests are: 1. Shane -19 and gives himself until the age of 30 to turn straight 2. Tia and Skylar - Tia is Shane's ex-GF and now best friend and roomate. Skylar is shane's ex-BF who is now Tia's object of affection (they lead REALLY complicated lives) 3. Greg - a small town kid who feared gays 4. Elian and Katy - married BUT Elian remains gay and Katie accepts this and EVEN allows for threesomes 5. Marc - is one HOTT stud. I feel like he's got no major issues on homosexuality just his dad who forces him to go to ex-gay ministr...

On "The Annoying Gay factor"

Jay Brannan talked about " The Annoying Gay Factor " in his blog: Q. the big annoying GAY factor: why do you hate being called a "gay" singer-songwriter, or being told you write "gay" songs, or always being asked to participate in gay-themed activities, etc.? A. it's 2009. i think it's time that everyone, the "gay community" included, allow gay people to take their place in the world as real people , rather than continuing to be defined and separated by their sexual orientation . i want the freedom to be myself, unafraid and uncensored, without having to market myself based on a sexual orientation, or attaching that sexual orientation to my name as a title. in recent years, an entire industry has developed around "being gay" -- ...most of these entities are built around cheesy, outdated and cliché ideas of what it means to be "gay," what gay people want, what is "sexy," or what sells. ...i don't want my ...

Let the Drag Race Begin!

" RuPaul's Drag Race ," the search for the "next superstar drag queen," premiered its first episode on Logo last February 2. And boy, are we in for a ride! Hosted and produced by legendary drag queen RuPaul, this reality show is a combination of America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, and a little bit of American Idol on the side. The winner, who will earn the title "America's Next Breakthrough Drag Superstar," has to outmodel, outdesign, and outperform all of her competitors. In the first challenge, the queens were given a limited budget and created a drag outfit using the items sold at a 99-cent store. The bottom two queens were then pitted against each other at a free-for-all lip-sync showdown. This show is indeed a celebration of the beauty and grace exemplified by these lovely queens. (And I hope it will be shown in the Philippines.)

Gay Rappers Continue to Rhyme Despite the Pressure

This is not a spoof YouTube video about a gay rapping on lack of rights on homosexuals. The song "Dilemma" is actually laid out by Captain Magik, a 28-year-old Cleveland native who used to rap as an opening act for Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Insane Clown Posse. It was only about 2 1/2 years ago when he came out of the closet, but it wasn't so easy. At first he thought that revealing his sexual preference to the public would hurt his rap career, until he discovered that he was not alone. Captain Magik found a thriving community of gay hip-hop artists, or homo-hop. In an interview with Los Angeles Times , he said that the experience was "liberating" and that he could "finally rap about things that are truly relevant" for him. However, this subgenre (if you will) faces heavy scrutiny especially from within the hip-hop community. Hip-hop music has been branded a bigoted lot, where anti-gay diatribes would as normal as "la la la" while calls fo...

Catch "The Love of Siam" extended run on Cinemanila 2008

" The Love of Siam ," a romantic drama from Thailand that has been all abuzz because of an element of gay love in its plot, was shown in the Philippines through Cinemanila 2008. The movie was controversial in its home country not because of its storyline, rather because it was marketed as "a straight movie." Nevertheless, this film is Thailand's official entry to the 81st Academy Awards for Best Foreign-Language Film. Meanwhile, Mario Maurer was awarded as Best Actor in Cinemanila's Southeast Asian Film category. If you have missed its Philippine run, just like I did, don't fret because screenings of Cinemanila winning films has just been extended. Catch "The Love of Siam" on the following dates on Gateway Cineplex in Araneta Center, Quezon City: October 23, 9:00 p.m. at Cinema 7 October 25, 9:00 p.m. at Cinema 2 October 26, 9:00 p.m. at Cinema 4 October 27, 8:30 p.m. at Cinema 2 October 28, 8:30 p.m. at Cinema 4 and October 29, 9:00 p.m. at...
