On Fajardo and Misleading Concepts Against Gays

There was a post in Rainbow Bloggers Philippines, but was removed by the author, regarding Designer Angelino "Boyet" Fajardo's wild behavior at Duty Free last March 13, 2009. Let's review this issue and check on the misleading concepts brought by the incident to the LGBT Community. As a part of RBP's advocacy on the dignity of the LGBT Filipino people, we are not suppose to hide Fajardo's behavior but simply express our notion on his unlikely attitude.

Throwing Stones.
If we will search in youtube and look for his video, obviously, you will see a lot of negative comments. One of the example is this one:
Tang ina mo Boyetta.... bakla kana animal kapa.....hindi ganyan ang mga taga Pampanga....anakputa ka...damonyos.....idemanda yan at huwag magpa ayos. mga pare ko sa duty free, kayong nasa fashion design, expell him please... she's a liability. we will not let this issue die.
Let us give an emphasis on the phrase "BAKLA KA NA, ANIMAL KA PA" as if being gay is something wrong, aside from that, the issue it another bad impact on the Kapampangan, which is another story. Try reading more of the post and you will see words such as "Baklang Baboy", "Matapobreng Bading" and most words have "bakla" and "bading" in them, not just in youtube, but in other websites, blogs, and the like that posted their articles on Boyet Fajardo.

Another comment is this:
ø„¸ ¨°º¤„¸¸„ø¤º° ¨¸„ø¤º°¨ Copy and paste
¨°º¤ø„¸ FAJARDO ¸„ø¤º°¨ this if u think
¸„ø¤º°¨ SUCKS! ` `°º¤ø„¸ boyet sucks!

Boyet is Gay. So?
Ok, now let's go back. He is gay. Quoting Empress Maruja in his email to RBP's E-group which states that the controversy about Boyet Fajardo only gave an excuse to many Filipinos to express their hatred towards gays. Just read at the comments being given against him: "Dapat sa baklang 'yan bitayin", "Hinayupak na baklang 'yan...". You know what I mean. Although I do not applaud what Mr. Fajardo did to the helpless cashier, I do hope we should not pick on him just because he is homosexual. Another message that is worth reading is Oliver's message: "The fact is, that designer was just and INDIVIDUAL and prior to this encounter he wasn't really known. SO for him to 'represent' the gay community is ridiculous..." Therefore, the bottom line here is, despite the behavior showed by the said designer, we should not tag all homosexuals, specially the gays (bakla), with the attitude expressed by Boyett Fajardo. We are adding more stereotypes to the LGBT community and may lead to greater discrimination in the Philippines.

Justice.
The offense was done to the Duty Free employee, and Boyett asked for an apology together with his so called alibis. Should we boycott the designer's products? Well, let us leave this case to the Commission on Human Rights and not create more aggressive actions towards Boyett. Dahil ba sa bakla siya kaya niya minaltrato ang empleyado? Hindi. Ginawa niya iyon dahil siya si Boyet Fajardo. Lastly, this is not a case of gender identity but an issue on social stratification and human rights violation.

Note: This is not an official statement of RBP to the Boyet Fajardo case.

  1. Maging bakla man o hindi, babae o lalaki, tomboy o hindi, muherista o silahista, mayaman of maralita dapat balikan ang turo ng mga guro noong bta pa tayo. Be humble. Maging mabait palagi. Pagod man tayo o hindi dapat palaging kagalang-galang. Ganyan lang ka simple, sana.

  2. The Boyet controversy can help clarify the LGBT's movement(s) position(s) regarding class relations and the relationship between desire, capital and power.

I think its interesting that there were no youtube comments saying: mataba ka na, animal ka pa. o apat ang mata mo, animal ka pa. An analysis of why bakla was chosen over all of the other things to pick up on may be useful, strategically.

  3. its inevitable. putting some logic into these people's mind is just ridiculous.

i'm just way too fed up with people having a negative notion with the word gay: whats wrong with being gay anyway?

its being boxed-up in that old stereotype that sucks.

i wouldn't really give much to these kind of people, i've already given up with the fact these people will accept us with their rock-hard stubborness and arrogance. Maybe their successors will, but them? sigh

Pero naniniwala ako na balang araw ay mababago din ito... one way or another... sumusulong naman ang mga tao, kahit papaano... tiyaga lang mga kapatid at vigilance

  10. Haayz..

Haller!! Hmpf

    >.<

  11. I know it would be to late for me to comment on this issue.

But I guess what he did was really wrong. The fact we are trying our best to be accepted but there are some people are there who is try to bring us down with them.

I proud to be Gay! I want to show the whole world that being Gay is not just "Mr. F" but more than what they see or hear from the News.

PHILIPPINES: 'A Nation of Servants' - HK Journalist

Do we deserve this? The war at home by Chip Tsao HK Magazine The Russians sank a Hong Kong freighter last month, killing the seven Chinese seamen on board. We can live with that—Lenin and Stalin were once the ideological mentors of all Chinese people. The Japanese planted a flag on Diàoyú Island. That’s no big problem—we Hong Kong Chinese love Japanese cartoons, Hello Kitty, and shopping in Shinjuku, let alone our round-the-clock obsession with karaoke. But hold on—even the Filipinos? Manila has just claimed sovereignty over the scattered rocks in the South China Sea called the Spratly Islands, complete with a blatant threat from its congress to send gunboats to the South China Sea to defend the islands from China if necessary. This is beyond reproach. The reason: there are more than 130,000 Filipina maids working as $3,580-a-month cheap labor in Hong Kong. As a nation of servants, you don’t flex your muscles at your master, from whom you earn most of your bread and butter. As a pat
