Dear Becky: I'm Gay, but Girls Like Me

Dear Becky,

I know this is quite a weird problem. You see, I'm gay and I haven't been successful in having a boyfriend. However, I have been encountering girls and they have expressed they like me but I only look at them as just friends.

It started back in high school. I had a female friend whom I have been buddies with since Grade 3, and even back then she knew I was gay. But during our high school years she tried to flirt with me. I didn't get aroused or anything, I thought it was her "adolescence" acting up. Then during our college years, when we haven't been seeing each other personally, she told me over the phone that she liked me. I was shocked, but I told her that she is like a sister to me. I thought I broke her heart, but what can I do? I cannot pretend to be straight.

During college, I also met some female friends who have expressed their liking for me. First was a Filipino-Chinese who even sent a note to me with lyrics of "When I Fall in Love" and even pitched an idea of having me meet her family. The second was a classmate in my junior year. She sent love-related text messages and even asked me to kiss her, but I only gave her a peck on the cheek.

Now that I'm years beyond my college years, one of my female officemates was so forward about wanting me to be her boyfriend all while knowing that I go for my own kind. Ironically, I am still unsuccessful in having guys, straight-acting gays, or male bisexuals into a romantic relationship.

I was wondering Becky, is this a sign from God that I should be straight? Do you think there is something wrong with me which is why I am bad in having gay relationships? I hope your readers could enlighten me.

Thanks and more power,
Clyde

  1. wow, you must be really good looking and straight acting, Clyde...!

i wish you have sent a picture and have it posted here... and the Becky would tag it: wanted boyfriend not girlfriend...

no, not a sign of God, that I can assure you... but procreating is a good interpretation--you must have good genes and theefore should be spread...

    i'm kissing your ass...

    Well, I'm available... waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

I think you are just focuse on this, a tiny spec in your life, where as if you look at the big picture, i'm sure you have a fair share of men drooling over you... just that either they are not your type or that it didn't work out...

otherwise, problems are not problems, unless your problemize them...

    i don't know...

    just my take...

PHILIPPINES: 'A Nation of Servants' - HK Journalist

Do we deserve this? The war at home by Chip Tsao HK Magazine The Russians sank a Hong Kong freighter last month, killing the seven Chinese seamen on board. We can live with that—Lenin and Stalin were once the ideological mentors of all Chinese people. The Japanese planted a flag on Diàoyú Island. That’s no big problem—we Hong Kong Chinese love Japanese cartoons, Hello Kitty, and shopping in Shinjuku, let alone our round-the-clock obsession with karaoke. But hold on—even the Filipinos? Manila has just claimed sovereignty over the scattered rocks in the South China Sea called the Spratly Islands, complete with a blatant threat from its congress to send gunboats to the South China Sea to defend the islands from China if necessary. This is beyond reproach. The reason: there are more than 130,000 Filipina maids working as $3,580-a-month cheap labor in Hong Kong. As a nation of servants, you don’t flex your muscles at your master, from whom you earn most of your bread and butter. As a pat
